our approach

appoach

What makes you unique? Let's take grad portraits that stand out!

We've all seen UCSB grad photos in front of Henley Gate, Campus Point, or the UCSB Library. Maybe you're popping a bottle of champagne or tossing your cap into the air. While this gets the job done for most, wouldn't you like your portraits to showcase your unique skills, talents, and interests?

Every booking includes a free 15-minute creative consultation during which we can discuss location(s) and brainstorm ideas for your photoshoot. While the creative opportunities are endless, here are some starter ideas:

Musicians: bring your instrument on campus and play it in various scenic locations

Athletes: let's find our way to the court, track, or field, to get some action shots! Bring your equipment, ball, or jersey to the shoot to draw attention to your athleticism.

Researchers: want to showcase your academic expertise? Let's go to a lab or your area of study!

Artists: bring your completed art or supplies! Perhaps a change of outfit if fashion is your artform?

collaboration and direction

I believe that taking portraits is a collaborative process in which both photographer and subject bounce ideas off of each other to create photos that will encapsulate the individuality of each grad. This is why I offer every booking a free 15-minute consultation to break the ice and get the creative juices flowing. Do you have reference images, unique ideas, or poses you want to make sure are included in your shoot? I'll take notes during our brainstorming call to make sure we have time to hit all of your key ideas in a timely manner. I encourage all grads to utilize this resource.

Ultimately, the most important thing is for you to walk away from your photoshoot with the confidence that this critical moment in your life was captured elegantly and to your taste. Keeping this in mind, I offer an 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not happy after seeing your photo proofs, let's hop on a call and figure out what went wrong so we can correct it in a new free shoot of the same length as your original shoot.

Photoshoots work best as a team!

frequently asked questions

Learn more about the process.

Q: When is the best time of day to book my grad photos?

A: While timeslots are often open throughout the day, the times that offer the best lighting are right around sunrise and sunset (aka "Golden Hour" light). Aim to book two hours before sunset or after sunrise for the best lighting.

Q: Are group prices listed per-person or per-group?

A: Pricing is listed per-person, with larger groups receiving lower individual prices.

Q: How can I pay for my photos?

A: I can take payments via credit card, Venmo, Zelle, Cashapp, cash, or check.

Q: How long will it take to receive my photos after the shoot?

A: For solo shoots, edited photos will be delivered within two weeks of selection. For groups, photos will be delivered within three weeks of selection. If photos are needed sooner, email info@ivstreets.com to discuss expedited delivery options.

Q: Which locations are best for grad photos?

A: Common locations include Henley Gate, the UCSB Library West Entrance, the Interactive Learning Pavilion, neighboring beaches, and Storke Tower. For portraits that standout, take a look at "our approach" above.

Q: How does the selection and photo editing process work?

A: During our shoot, we will generate hundreds of unique images. Shortly after the shoot (within 3-4 days), you will be sent an album link containing watermarked proofs of all of these images. Depending on the package selected, you will be able to select a set number of these images to be enhanced through lighting edits and facial retouching. Your selected images will then be edited and delivered without watermarks after your final selection.

Q: Can I change outfits during my shoot?

A: Are you having trouble picking between differing styles? Outfit changes are encouraged for shoots 2 hours or longer. I have a portable changing booth that will provide privacy on the go. Alternatively, we can split the shoot into two shorter sessions on different days for an additional $50 fee.

Q: Can I extend my shoot if we run out of time?

A: I will try my best to ensure that we hit all of the locations, poses, and outfits that we set out to do by pacing the shoot in a timely manner. However, in the event that we need additional time, I offer a couple options that we can take to extend the shoot. In the event that my schedule does not permit additional time, I can offer an additional shoot at a later date for a reduced rate. If my schedule permits adding time onto our existing shoot, I charge a rate of $50 per 30 minutes.

Q: Can I bring guests to my shoot?

A: All are welcome to come support you during your shoot. Family, friends, pets, partners, makeup artists, or anyone that will keep you comfortable during the process.
